CBD Tarot de Marseille adaptation by Dr. Yoav Ben-Dov
The CBD Tarot de Marseille is accompanied by the text, “A faithful reproduction of the traditional Tarot cards based on the standard deck printed in Marseille by Nicolas Conver, 1760, restored and adapted by Yoav Ben-Dov, 2010.”
According to Dr. Ben-Dov’s Web site, “CBD Tarot de Marseille is the outcome of more than three years of restoration and adaptation. It reproduces faithfully the details and the symbols of the most influencial and appreciated traditional Tarot deck — the cards printed by Nicolas Conver in Marseille 1760. The line details and the coloring were taken from different printings of the original deck, and adapted to modern print technology and for present-day use in Tarot reading.”
Visit the author’s Web site at www.cbdtarot.com to see the suit cards and for divinatory meanings of each card. Also see a discussion of the deck’s special features, and of the art, composition and movement found in the cards. In a video presentatation, Dr. Ben-Dov states, “The artistic tricks of composition and movement in CBD Tarot de Marseille exist in the original Nicholas Conver’s (1760) Tarot, but the quality of the old print and the wear and fade with age made them difficult to notice until now.”
